I cut my writing teeth, so to speak, on short fiction and features for women's magazines. Over the years, I’ve written for many publications in the UK, South Africa, Sweden, Japan, Norway, Australia and the US. Stories about love, hate, loss, humour, redemption, sadness, success and happy endings... although not always. I’ve also written stories and comedy material for BBC radio.

Among hundreds of stories published, I was particularly pleased with those in ELLERY QUEEN’S MYSTERY MAGAZINE in New York ('PROCEDURE' and 'STUFF HAPPENS').

In between writing novels, I continue to write shorter stuff, although the books are - happily - taking up more of my time. But a regular and enjoyable job is writing the ‘BEGINNERS’ column in WRITING MAGAZINE, which looks at the basics of being a writer.
